Washington D.C contains so many monuments, museums, memorials, and historical sites that it is impossible to spend just a couple of days in this city. There are more than two dozen free museums, so you can absorb culture the way it was meant to be experienced. If you are going to spend some days of your vacation in Washington then here is a list of top 5 places.

1. Washington State Capitol:

The Washington State Capitol is the home of the government of the state of Washington. It contains chambers for the Washington State Legislature and offices for the governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state and treasurer and is part of a campus consisting of several buildings. When the flag is raised over the building that means Congress is in session. The outside of the Capitol is simply stunning.

The Library of Congress is the research library of the United States Congress and the oldest federal cultural institution in the United States. Located in four buildings in Washington, D.C., as well as the Packard Campus in Culpeper, Virginia, it is the largest library in the world by shelf space and number of books. Words can hardly describe the beauty and the design. The Library of Congress is really awesome.

It has been the residence of every U.S. president since John Adams. The White House Complex includes the Executive Residence, West Wing, Cabinet Room, Roosevelt Room, East Wing, and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which houses the executive offices of the President and Vice President.

National Archives Building is located in Northwest, Washington, D.C. National Archives Building is the original headquarters of the National Archives and Records Administration. Every important historical documents rest in the National Archives Building.
